So this fall I have taken 6 weeks of tennis lessons. I've "played" tennis before, like in gym class? Also a few times with Tyler back on SoBe, which led to being beat by the most humble and gracious winner by the same trick drop shot over and over, and the gifting to me of two tennis rackets for a birthday present that year. Not really the type of experience that lures you back for more. I have been to the US Open for Tennis in Queens twice, (full disclosure: I had to just Google to make sure that is what they called the tennis match AND what they call that golf tournament; why do they have the same name?) Bascially what I'm getting at is that despite owning two tennis rackets I really know shiz about tennis. I was thinking it would be 'fun' to try something new. My lessons were at 7am, which wasn't bad until about 4 weeks ago when it started remaining dark until 7:15, which made it super hard to get out of bed. But my saving grace was Mo. Mo was my tennis coach. He was awesome. He had so much zest, enthusiasm, and patience. He really wanted us to get better. I learned a decent forehand and backhand, and it turns out I'm a natural at serving. (By natural I mean I can hit it over the net and into the right box, it's definetly lacking "heat"). I also finally learned how to keep score. What is with it? Love? Why not say zero? All and all it was a fun experience and the first time I had done something like that in a while. So I just wanted to post--Try something new whenever you get the chance!
Oh and here is a picture of Mo in action. Note his group. I'm trying to get him to set up doubles for me against those twins in the middle...they look smug with their ability, and I'd like to take them on!
