If you build it...

I must take a moment here to brag. Usually proud moments come from a parent about their child. But as our child is in "time out" for all the kicking and bladder jabbing, I speak not of he/she but of the man I am proud to call my husband. Now I know I need not turn any of you into fans of JSM- he has won your hearts already. But if you have not seen him lately, please read on. This man has changed. He has grown so much over the last few months I barely recognize him sometimes. I mean I fell in love with him and married him for all the wonderful things he already was but now there is just so much more. We moved here to this lonesome town of Lovettsville where good food, good friends or a good dive bar are not just steps from the downstairs lobby (oh how we miss nyc). So he planned and he worked and he built this amazing place where friends (old and new), delicious food and his newest passion for wine will all come together. Through the long hours of phone calls, dealings with contractors, vendors, county and city rules and regulations, health department codes, unruly tenant/landlord and a complaining pregnant wife he has come through shining- with an amazing final product. You should see this place. It is days away from opening- DAYS!!! I cannot believe it. Miller has created his own hangout- brilliant! Though I had never seen him so stressed out than I had the last few months (and especially the last few weeks) he still manages to be a a good husband, father ("hey milo") and father-to-be ("hello giant belly- what are you doing in there baby?" -exact quote) And I believe his "friending" has been well balanced as well- Jeremy? Steve?
In the past week he has this calm about him. The doors are so close to opening and everything is starting to fall into place. Just when I thought we would be the most distant- we are the closest we've ever been. I guess in hard times your true colors come shining through (that was for you Jeremy.) So there it is. I am a proud wife. And I am even more proud to be carrying his child (although the crazy legs are getting a little ridiculous in my not made to be stretched petite torso.) Please come to Virginia. Please stop by the bar and have a drink. Give Mr. Miller a big pat on the back. Or maybe a big bear hug. He has been through the wringer but has come out smelling like roses. Or perhaps a fine Rosé.

So proud, always have been and always will be (with the exception of the stint on eddie's couch where I would classify that as more of a "exploratory" phase and although I was proud it was also slightly confusing). I hope to be a regular...and also hope to get that stupid biker bar closed in the process.
