Many people know that 5000 considers himself a bit of a "Woodshop Specialist." He is able to make ANYTHING with a hand saw, drill, and ruler. Many of you may be familiar with the coffee table he made his mother, that was missing a leg, or the cedar trunk he made that just needed a few more bolts to attach the lid, some of you may even have enjoyed a BBQ on our old roof deck amongst wood planks decaying in the corner from the bookshelves he planned to make me before I started law school. Well no sooner did we throw out the remnants of the old bookshelves, 5000 started a new bookshelf project at the new apartment. This project immediately blocked our front entry with a work bench, tool box, several large clamps, and 4 feet tall planks of wood.
After a month of hanging my purse on the work bench we had a conversation in which we broached the tough reality that perhaps 5000 should put his woodshop specialty projects on hold until we had a proper place to store his essential tools and props. 5000 could not face this. He PROMISED that he would finish this new project this weekend, (weather permitting). Not wanting to crush his dreams, I agreed.
Today is the day. I am at the dining room table studying. 5000, no longer able to ignore the pressure to either finish the project or throw it out, has set himself up out front with all his tools and Kai. Out front is a patio area that is three steps down from the sidewalk and it is directly outside our living room windows. Not only can I see him, I can hear him. And let me tell you, he is the absolute HIT of the neighborhood. He already has to go to Fran's house and fix her door, she offered to pay him but he declined. Another woman, I couldn't catch her name, inquired about his services. 5000 has said the phrase, "It's just a low key Saturday afternoon project." at least 8 times. It looks like 5000 does not have to give up Woodshop, now has the chance to continue his love for completing projects for everyone on the block. Hell, at the rate he is going he may be able to quit his job.

Nobody knows there way around wood like T-tech. I once saw him whittle a new 7 iron out of a fallen branch after he had broken his own 7 iron on an un-fallen tree.
That is wonderful, and I am so happy to have the mental image of this project and frankly, wish I was there to lend a helping hand. Low key saturday project, my ass.
5000, lets collabo on a project soon. I have several peices of furntiture in my house that I have wittled from wood. My portfolio is fairly deep...
