Alright, so I've been experimenting extensively with what is known in the UK as Cockney rhyming slang. Created to confuse tourists and other non-locals, Cockney speakers developed an amazing technique to communicate using two of my favorite staples: rhyme and slang. So it goes like this: take two words related by a short phrase, then use the first word as slang for the real word that rhymes for the second. Simple, right? Here's some free... In one of the Ocean's movies, Don Cheadle used the word "Barney" to express that they were in trouble: Barney, invokes Rubble, which rhymes with trouble. Pretty sweet. More: Milk used as slang for money = milk, honey, money. Captain as slang for jerk: captain, Kirk, jerk.
So there you have it. Don't be puzzled when I invite you out for Hawaiian (lunch), ask if you want to burn a heart (bob), or see if you want to go out for some Britneys (beers).
Go team...
