As some of you may or may not know, I have a love for Orangina. It's delicious flavor and light carbonation makes it a perfect morning drink. I was recently in a bodega near my office and saw a Newman's own Mango Orange Lightly Carbonated beverage and jumped at the opportunity to purchase it. I like the whole charity thing and the salad dressings are on par, but the one thing that drew me to the bottle was the label, where written clear as day was "No High Fructose Corn Syrup." I put my $2 down and shook the bottle gently as instructed and took a couple of sips...home run, this stuff is delicious, good bye Orangina. I turned over the label to see what type of sweetner was in the juice and to my suprise the second ingredent was HFCS....WTF Paul Newman???? From my days w/ SoBe i know too well the recent consumer backlash from HFCS. The stuff is basically cheap sugar, in everything that you eat and leads to Diabeties when fed in large quantities to lab rats etc. I don't mind the stuff but don't put NO HFCS on the front of the label even if you are the natural.
The response from Newman himself..."Dear Mr. sandler,There is no high fructose corn syrup in the Lightly Sparkling beverages. This was a labeling error that has been corrected on the newer lots ofbottles. We apologize greatly for this mistake and hope you willcontinue to be a valued customer.Sincerely,Newman's Own Customer Service Team" Who can you trust?

Consumer advocacy is akin to waving people in in heavy traffic. If you see something, say something
HFCS is ubiquitous. it took me twenty minutes to find a loaf of bread that was HFCS free. tyler=tim robbins in hudsucker proxy.
